What is Acne?

People often believe acne is simply caused by dirt and bacteria, but in fact it's an inherited skin condition. Acne is caused by pores that shed too rapidly per day. "Normal" pores shed 1 layer, whereas acne prone pores can shed up to 5 layers a day, causing congestion to build up. From these clogged pores, one either suffers from non-inflamed acne (whiteheads, blackheads), inflamed acne (pustules, papules, cysts), or a combination of both. There are other factors that contribute to acne, as well, such as diet, lifestyle, and using comedogenic (pore clogging) products.

Refine Skincare offers the Face Reality Acne “Boot Camp", which is a 90 day clear-skin program that combines powerful, clinical-grade treatments and products customized to your type of acne, along with a series of bi-monthly facial treatments that may also include blue LED light therapy and high frequency at no additional cost.
As an Acne Specialist, I am dedicated in helping you improve the health and clarity of your skin. Nevertheless, we must work as a team and clearing acne does not happen overnight. Nothing, including prescription medicine, can cure acne. Treatments must be customized for your acne type and severity, as well as your skin type and condition. Your full commitment and consistency to the Face Reality program is also vital to your success!
Each individual's acne case is unique. Results can vary.
To Get Started:
1) Schedule an Initial Acne Assessment & Treatment. This first appointment can take 1 ½ - 2 hours long.

You will need to fill out a comprehensive intake form and we will discuss what the Acne Boot Camp entails and decide if the program is right for you.

You'll be provided with a digital or paper acne packet full of useful information such as pore clogging ingredients to look for, as well as, diet and life style choices that can contribute to acne.

Determine your skin type, acne type, and skin tolerance in order to develop a professional treatment plan and customized home care routine for you.

Preliminary photos taken to track your progress. (These will not be shared unless you authorize)

Next, we will do a quick treatment and product patch test to prep the skin for the new products you will be using on the program.

After the treatment, we will go over the suggested home care products recommend for you.
Home Care Products are absolutely essential to the success of your treatment plan!
If you are not doing your home care routine according to our instruction, it simply will not work.
Expect to pay around $150-$170 for your first set of acne products. These products can last 2-4 months.
2) Ongoing Acne Treatments every 2 weeks.
Each time you come in Refine will:

Re-assess your skin and identify the most corrective course of treatment.

Re-assess your home care regimen and adjust accordingly so that your skin does not over-adapt and stop responding to treatments.

Give you an acne facial treatment.
It typically takes about six to eight services over a 3 to 4 month period of time to get you mostly or perhaps completely clear. As your skin gets clearer, your treatments will become shorter because there won’t be as many extractions to do, but because your daily home care routine is a critical part of becoming/staying clear you will continue to receive ongoing coaching on skincare protocols.
After your acne is under control and to continue staying clear you may need to only replenish your home care products; and receive optional facial treatments just every other month.
Special Considerations:

If using Retin A®, Differin Gel, Renova or any other prescription medications for exfoliating/anti-aging or medication for Rosacea, you will need to discontinue using 14 days prior to coming in.

Must wait 7 days after facial waxing to receive any acne treatments.

If using Accutane, you'll need to stop taking it 3 months before you can start the program.

If you are pregnant or nursing, you need to have your doctor’s OK before you start the program. Some treatments and products in this facial program aren't advised.
* Notice: For those not interested in the Face Reality Acne Program, but still want an acne treatment facial, you'll want to choose the Clear Skin Facial. This will block out enough time to address your concerns.
